STEP-BY-STEP PATTERN

Create the Center Ring

Ch 6, sl st to form a ring.
Round 1: ch 1, work 10 sc inside the ring. Sl st to join.

This forms the central body where all wings attach.

Upper Wings (make 2)

Work on one side of the ring.

Round 1:
Ch 4 (counts as tr). Into same stitch work:
2 tr, 3 dc, 2 hdc.
Ch 3, sl st into next stitch of the base ring.

This creates the first upper wing lobe.

Repeat the same sequence in the next stitch of the ring to make the second upper wing.

Skip to the opposite side of the ring.

Round 1:
Ch 3 (counts as dc). In the same stitch:
2 dc, 2 hdc, 2 sc.
Ch 2, sl st in next stitch of the ring.

Repeat again for the second lower wing.

The butterfly shape now appears clearly.

Body & Antennae

With a contrasting yarn:

Ch 10.
Fold the butterfly in the center and wrap the chain around the middle, forming the body.
Tie a knot at the top and leave the tails as antennae.
Trim to desired length.
