MATERIALS
Fine cotton yarn (2 colors if desired)
Crochet hook (usually 1.75–2.5 mm)
Stitch markers (optional)
Needle for finishing
Beads or crystal charms (optional, for decoration)
CROCHET ABBREVIATIONS (US TERMS)
ch = chain
sl st = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
tr = treble crochet
picot = ch 3, sl st in same stitch
sp = space
STEP 1 – FOUNDATION (NECKLINE)
Make a foundation chain long enough to comfortably fit around the neck.
Join with a slip stitch to form a circle (do not twist).
Work single crochet stitches evenly around the chain.
Join with a sl st and do not turn.
This top edge forms the collar base.
STEP 2 – CREATE THE HEART BASE POINTS
Chain 3 (counts as first dc).
Skip 1 stitch, work 5 dc in the next stitch, skip 1 stitch, sl st in next stitch.
Repeat this pattern around.
These groups will form the anchor points for each heart.
STEP 3 – FORM EACH HEART SHAPE
Work each heart individually, attached to the collar.
For ONE HEART:
Attach yarn in the center of a 5-dc group.
Chain 3.
Work:
4 dc
2 tr
2 dc
picot (optional, for definition)
2 dc
2 tr
4 dc
Sl st at the base of the heart.
Chain 1 and fasten off or continue to the next heart.
Repeat for all hearts across the neckline.

STEP 4 – SECOND ROW OF HEARTS (LOWER LAYER)
Attach yarn between two upper hearts.
Chain 5 (this creates the drop space).
Repeat the same heart pattern as Step 3.
Continue across, placing hearts centered between the top row hearts.
This creates the layered heart effect.
STEP 5 – CENTER POINT HEART
In the center bottom space, attach yarn.
Chain 6.
Work a larger heart:
6 dc
3 tr
picot
3 tr
6 dc
Sl st and fasten off.
This heart becomes the focal point.
STEP 6 – DECORATIVE CHAINS & BEADS (OPTIONAL)
Attach yarn to the tip of any heart.
Chain 6–10.
Add bead (thread bead onto yarn beforehand).
Secure with sl st.
Repeat for each heart tip as desired.
STEP 7 – FINISHING
Weave in all ends neatly.
Lightly block the piece to shape the hearts.
Attach clasps or ribbons if you want it removable.
FINAL TIP
Use lighter yarn and smaller hooks for a delicate lace look.
Use two colors to highlight the heart shapes.
